Fye, Robert (Bob) L. 78 Cherry Tree passed away December 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after an illness of 5 years. Born September 2, 1939 in Emeigh, son of Merlin (Lefty) and Gladys (Conn) Fye. Preceded in death by parents, sister Delores Mae Loman and her husband Jerry. Survived by wife of 56 years Norma (Davis) Fye, children Teri and husband Eric Gray of Punxsutawney, Patricia and husband Dustin Getz of Mapleton Depot, Debra and husband Jeffery Lockard of Ebensburg and Scott of Cherry Tree, grandchildren Seth Gray, Luke, Sarah and Lauren Lockard and Madilyn Fye. Bob attended Emeigh elementary school, then Barnesboro H.S. and graduated from Northern Cambria H. S. where he played basketball through his high school years. During the summer he played baseball and eventually played Junior Legion Ball. Bob was employed by Farmers and Merchants bank in Cherry Tree and continued working there through several name changes until he retired as manager from First Commonwealth Bank in 1999 after working 40 years in banking. Bob and his wife Norma were partners for thirty years in their local convenience store (Fye’s Corner Market). Bob was a member of the Cherry Tree United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer, member of the board and Sunday school secretary, he also served as treasurer for Cherry Tree Volunteer Fire Co., Cherry Tree Recreation Association and was a past member of the Harmony School Board. Bob was a member of the Penn-Ohio Hunt Club where he also served as treasurer. He coached and umpired baseball in Cherry Tree for 30 years, was a PIAA basketball official and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends will be received from noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Pastor Michael Watts will officiate. Interment East Ridge Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Cherry Tree United Methodist Church, Main Street Cherry Tree, Pa. 15724
