Charles L. Contres

Supervisor of the Northern Cambria Facility

Charles L. "Chuck" Contres graduated from Clarion University in 1978 with a BS Degree in Business Management. He went on to study at the Pennsylvania Institute of Mortuary Science where he graduated in 1979.Chuck went to St. Thomas U.S.V.I. in 1981 to work at John Thomas Memorial Chapel for 2 years. He came back to serve as branch manager of Long-Contres Funeral Home in Cherry Tree in 1983,  then became the Owner and President of Long-Contres Funeral Homes in 1992. He is a Member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association.

Chuck stays very active in the community by serving as  President of the Northern Cambria Area Business Alliance (NCABA). Secretary of Northern Cambria Community Development Corp. (NCCDC formerly NORCAM) and very active in the  Northern Cambria Rotary Club. He is a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and serves on various capacity councils and the Barnesboro Council 2277 Knights of Columbus.

Michael A. Contres

Supervisor of the Cherry Tree Facility

After graduating from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1984. Mike served his  apprenticeship at the Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home in Greencastle, Pa. He then worked for the M. Robert Etzweiler Funeral Home in York, Pa. for 6 years. He returned to Barnesboro in 1991 and began working with his brother, Chuck. 

In 1996 Mike decided that enlisting in the U.S. Navy would enrich his life experience. He became one of only 18 enlisted Navy Morticians. His first tour of duty was at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy where he served for 3 years. While there, he received intense training at the U.S. Army Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. It was there that he worked with U.S. Active duty, Retiree, and Civilian deaths, preparing them to be shipped back to the U.S. for burial. After serving in Italy, he completed his enlistment at the Military Medical Support Office at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Illinois, where he was responsible for paying the funeral bills for all personnel who died while on active duty in the Navy and Marines. He was honorably discharged from the Navy.

Mike presently serves as manager of Long-Contres Funeral Home, Inc. in Cherry Tree. He is active in the Northern Cambria Lions Club and a member of the Barnesboro Council 2277 Knights of Columbus.
